Cracking the Achievers Section: Where Olympiad Ranks Are Won
Two students answer 45 of 50 questions correctly. One gets a state rank, the other does not. The difference is almost always the Achievers Section.
Why it is different
Achievers questions combine two or three concepts, often with an unfamiliar presentation — a table to interpret before applying a formula, or a statement-and-conclusion structure. Standard chapter practice never looks like this.
How to train for it
Attempt these questions last, but budget 12–15 minutes for them. Practise five multi-concept problems a week and write out the full solution rather than picking an option.
Marks arithmetic
For Classes 5–10, five Achievers questions at 3 marks each are worth 15 marks — the same as fifteen ordinary questions. Prioritise accordingly.
